Abstract

Despite the fact that the United Nations (UN) and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) have similar aims, the functioning of these organizations in Central Asia is quite different. The UN, in particular, deals with the problems of global security while the OSCE pays more attention to the problem of human rights and to the development of a western type democracy.
