Abstract
A definite and similar attitude has not as yet formed in historiography till now towards the scientific heritage of Lev Nikolayevich Gumilev in spite of the many years that have passed and the fact that his works attract the attention of not only specialists, but enjoy a steady demand of mass readership creating the phenomenon of reading interest. On the whole it is connected with his original conception of ethnogenesis; but the scientific works in the field of nomadic studies are still to be estimated in the light of new methodological approaches and problems being worked out. The extensive use of a civilizational approach in the studies of the nomadic societies of Central Asia make L.N. Gumilev's works topical and needful. This article contains a discussion and an analysis of the main theoretical views and conclusions of L.N. Gumilev about the peculiar path of historical development of the nomadic peoples of Central Asia, about the motive factors of "the rhythms of Eurasia".
