Abstract
The conflict around the problem of Kashmir has been one of the most important unsolved questions in the relations between India and Pakistan since August 1947. It actually emerged at the same time with the appearance of the two independent dominions on the territory of the former British India, and it has had a direct influence on the development of the relations between the two countries. In spite of the fact that at present Delhi and Islamabad are experiencing a period of normalization of their relations and are following the path of a "complex dialogue", which includes also the discussion of the question of Kashmir, the parties are still far from the final settlement of this sore problem. However, the circumstances make the situation precarious in this region, and in a certain state of affairs the pendulum of relations may swing to the side opposite to a political dialogue.
