Abstract
At present China enters a new phase of the process of modernization, which was started in the 70-s of the XX cent. This process embraces all the spheres of the Chinese society and state, and it is marked by great success. At the same time with the reforms going further the country encounters considerable difficulties. To overcome them the country’s leadership wants to use the basic values of Chinese civilization. The ancient thesis “antiquity in the service of modernity” is very popular in modern China. And it is not accidental: the standards of the traditional China’s political culture have envisaged turning to these values in history’s serious moments. They are actively used by China’s modem leadership for solving the complex problems of modernization.
