Abstract

The Turkish postmodernism, which came into being in the second half of the 1980-s, claims its right to be a mainstream in the 1990-2000-s, the determining direction not only of literature, but also of the country' s culture as a whole (theatre, cinema, painting). Being extremely diverse Turkish postmodernism occupies a middle position between the Western (American and West European) and the Eastern (East European) modifications of postmodernism. The article concerns the causes of the origin of postmodernism on Turkish soil its national peculiarity on the example of works by Orkhan Pamuk and Muratkhan Mungan, who represent the opposite tendencies of this literary direction as well as the positive and negative lessons, which he has given to the national literature.
