Abstract

The article considers the problem of the court etiquette in Burma (Myanma) in the second half of the 19th century. The author supposes that the etiquette in Burma carried out two functions: it acted as the standart of the sacred ritualistic background of the Buddhist state and in the same time it regulated daily duties and behaviour of the officials and the inhabitants of the palace of the Burmese monarchs.
