Abstract
The topicality of the subject of the article is determined by the substantial influence of the authority of the Veda and some connected with it traditional religious institutions such as the sacrificial rite not only on the religious, cultural but on the social life of modern India. In spite of long, numerous efforts in the Vedic rite explanation we are still far from its comprehension in view of the ancient origins of this phenomenon and drastic changes of modern man's outlook, his attitude (in comparison with ancient Aryans' ones). Among methods of approach suggested for the investigation of the Vedic sacrificial act the most valid seems to be the one taking into account the communicative nature of the phenomenon. In other words, it considers the situation of the worlds' interaction as the one defi ning the meaning of the whole action. The possibilities of the mentioned method of approach do not seem to be exhausted in view of the recent achievements in the field of theory of communication. Its methods appear to be quite suitable for the consideration of the phenomenon. That is shown in the research represented in the article.
