Abstract
Dr. Alexey Drugov in his article "Indonesian Democracy: Test of Maturity" maintains that 50 years after September 30, 1965 tragedy in Indonesia that led to massacre of more than a million of innocent people its heritage proved unfadable. Human rights watchers in Indonesia and abroad demanded new investigation on 1965 events and rehabilitation of victims as well as disclosing of the real essence of the events. Their demands met strong opposition of the Indonesian military elite and conservative Moslem groups often supported by offi cials. But the very fact that this problem is being raised shows that this burden on the nation ' s consciousness has not diminished and desire to clean this stain off the nation's image is ripening.
