Abstract
After the Arab Spring we can see a reconfiguration of power in the Middle East. Egypt during the Mubarak era was a leader in the Middle East policy, but now there is a lot of internal problems in the "Pharaoh's country". Another very important country Syria entered an era of long-term civil war with unpredictable outcome. But there are increasing roles in the regional policy of Qatar and Saudi Arabia. There is also a revival of Iraq after the NATO's invasion in this country. The League of Arab States (LAS) has a hard time: Egypt is losing the absolute domination in it but keeps the crucial role to play among other Arab states particularly those that have managed to develop "immunity" to the events of the Arab Spring. It is interesting to remember how Egypt and Iraq competed for dominance in the Arab League during the 1940s-50s.
