Abstract
The article focuses on the question of the Alevi community's status (a religious group in Turkey, also called Qizilbash) and place in the life of the country's society. The official government's approach to the cultural, religious and social phenomenon which forms Alevism is also examined in details. The article is based on the works of Turkish researchers defending Alevis, as well as those who are supporting the official point of view of the Turkish government.
