The research concentrates on such questions as improving of the status of daughters, women’s right to divorce, the appearance of a large number of urban women without family, transformation of the institution of concubines. It is shown that in comparison with the previous centuries due to significant lifestyle changes urban women obtained new opportunities for self-development but at the same time faced with many economic and psychological challenges.
